PNP, MMDA begin deploying 24K personnel around Batasan for SONA 2024
Around 24,000 personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) have started to deploy around the Batasang Pambansa Complex on Sunday in preparation for the 3rd State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. tomorrow, July 22.
Based on a Super Radyo dzBB report of Christian Maño, the PNP has started its checkpoint operations at the Quezon Memorial Circle and stationed a mobile outpost along Commonwealth Avenue.
To bolster police visibility, officers have been positioned in every street near the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City.
The MMDA, meanwhile, has been conducting clearing operations of illegally parked vehicles along IBP Road.
Around 22,000 police personnel will be deployed to secure the SONA, according to the PNP.
Furthermore, the MMDA said it will deploy 2,000 of its personnel to assist motorists in the immediate area around Batasang Pambansa.An extended gun ban is currently in effect in the National Capital Region (NCR), which started on Saturday, July 20, and will end at midnight on Monday, July 22. —Giselle Ombay/RF, GMA Integrated News
