2 Vietnamese arrested for illegal gun, drugs possession in Pasay could be POGO workers — police

Two Vietnamese men arrested for allegedly threatening a bar customer with a gun in Pasay City may be Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) workers, according to police.

In Bam Alegre’s Wednesday report on Balitanghali, the police are investigating why the two foreigners are in the country.

“Less than a year pa lang ito sa Pilipinas and suspected POGO employees sila,” Pasay City Police chief P/Major Deni Pedroso said.

(They have been here in the Philippines for less than a year and they are suspected POGO employees.)

The two Vietnamese were unable to give their statements since they could not understand English or Tagalog.

According to a Southern Police District (SPD) report, authorities on early Tuesday morning arrested the two Vietnamese at a bar along Roxas Boulevard after receiving a complaint from the victim, who is also Vietnamese.

The two men were identified as “Van”, 26, and "Hoang", 23.

Police seized a Colt Combat Commander .45 caliber pistol and three rounds of ammunition from Van, who has no license to own and possess firearms.

Also recovered were 1.5 grams of shabu worth P10,200 from Hoang.

The two suspects were turned over to Pasay Police Headquarters for documentation and filing of complaints of light threat charges. Van also faces a separate complaint for violating RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act while Hoang will be charged for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
