PH’s biggest HS expects rise in enrollees for SY 2024-2025
Rizal High School in Pasig City, one of the biggest high school in the country, is expecting its student population to increase as more Grade 7 students enroll for the coming school year.
According to Marisol Abdurahman’s report in 24 Oras on Thursday, around 1,700 incoming Grade 7 students have so far enrolled in the high school.
Last school year, 1,875 students enrolled in Grade 7. The school is expecting a 3% rise in its enrollees in the upcoming school year, the report said.
“Merong mga public elementary sa aming catchment area so nakikita namin tataas kami ng konti sa aming Grade 7,” said school principal Richard Santos.
(We have a public elementary in our catchment area, so we expect a rise in our Grade 7 enrollees.)
With the expected rise in enrollment, the school is mulling to add more sections to limit the number of students in each class to 40.
Further, the high school is also conducting a free medical screening on its enrollees for the first time since its establishment in 1902.
“Bakit ba na naapektuhan or hindi nakakapag aral ng mabuti ang ating mga learners ay dahil sa kalusugan nila,” said Santos.
(Our learners sometimes can’t study well because of their health.)
Aside from the vital signs, the school would also look into the mental well-being of their students.
According to the Department of Education, the enrollment in public schools nationwide will run from July 3 to 26. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
