E-bike rider crashes into truck in front of him
A man riding an e-bicycle was left with a bleeding face after crashing crashed into the back of a truck along Nagtahan Bridge in Manila.
In Jhomer Apresto’s Sunday report on 24 Oras Weekend, the truck driver said he was unaware of the incident and did not know why a motorcycle suddenly blocked him.
“Paahon ako, tapos biglang nag slow down yung sinusundan ko, siyempre nag slow down din ako sir, hindi ko alam na may bumangga pala sa likuran ng truck ko,” the truck driver said.
(I was moving forward when the vehicle in front of me suddenly slowed down. Of course, I also slowed down too. I did not know something crashed into my truck.)
A police mobile that was in the area called for medical responders and the victim, who seemed to be a foreigner, was given first aid.
Despite his refusal to be brought to the hospital, the victim was taken to a hospital in East Avenue.
“Hindi po siya tinanggap ni Ospital ng Sampaloc dahil gawa raw po na wala silang ENT (ear, nose, and throat doctor) na naka duty po. That's why po napag desisyon po ng mga responder natin na i-transfer na lang po sa East Avenue,” said Larsen Mar Tugnao, chief of Central Paco Pandacen Fire and Rescue Volunteer.
(The Ospital ng Sampaloc did not accept him since there was no attending physician on duty. That’s why the responders decided to transfer the victim to a hospital on East Avenue.)
Meanwhile, the truck driver was brought to the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit station as authorities investigate the incident. — Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
