Student beaten up for resisting robbery

A first-year college student suffered wounds to his thigh, arm, and head after he resisted a riding-in-tandem who allegedly tried to rob him in Barangay Quirino 2-B, Quezon City.

In Jonathan Andal’s ''24 Oras'' report on Tuesday, the 20-year-old victim said he was walking near his home when the robbers riding a motorcycle suddenly showed up from behind a van.

Sabi po sa akin is ibigay ko raw yung phone ko kundi ipuputok niya raw po ito,” the victim said.

(The motorcycle passenger alighted the vehicle and pointed a gun at me while grabbing my collar. He said I should surrender my phone or else he would shoot me.)

He added that he tried to resist giving his bag and phone away.

(When I shouted, I was suddenly punched in the stomach. He also hit my head with a gun and then pushed me backward.)

There was no CCTV where the incident happened, but nearby CCTVs caught the robbers escaping without stealing anything.

The victim said the robbers wore helmets and masks and that he was unable to get the plate number of the motorcycle.

‘Di bale na yung cellphone. makakabili naman pero yung buhay mo… patay ka na, tapos yung cellphone andyan, aanhin ko yung cellphone mo?” the aunt of the victim said.

(I told him that if the same incident happens to him, he should surrender his phone. We can still buy another cellphone, but his life cannot be replaced. I have no use for a cellphone if you are already dead.)

The police are investigating the motorcycle that was used by the riding-in-tandem.
