Cops arrest 2 men found with gun in car

Authorities were patrolling along C5 Road in Taguig City when they spotted a shotgun inside a car, according to a "24 Oras" report by Marisol Abdurahman.

When called to stop, the driver even sped up until they reached a corner where the passengers alighted and tried to run away.

Two of the passengers were arrested while the others were able to escape.

The two were sobbing when GMA Integrated News spoke to them at the Taguig City Police Station and said they could not accept that they were to face imprisonment at the ages of 18 and 22.

One suspect said he tried to prevent his companions from running away, but they did not listen.

“Alam naman po namin na wala kaming kasalanan (We know we did not do anything wrong),” said another suspect.

Colonel Christopher Olazo, Taguig Police chief said his men saw the shotgun inside the car of the suspects prompting them to conduct a check.  Before they could do it, the car accelerated.  Police called a back-up to help quell the suspects.

“Iniwanan ng mga kabataan, ng mga suspect natin yung sakayan at tumakbo po sila patakas para hindi sila mahuli ng mga pulis,” Olazo said

(The suspects left the younger ones in the car and ran away.)

“Very alarming po para sa amin na makitaan sila ng mga gantong baril at grupo pa silang nagba-byahe (It's very alarming for a group of travelers to be carrying a shotgun),” he adeed.

Multiple complaints have been filed against the suspects including illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF GMA Integrated News
