Muslims gather in Manila, Taguig for Eid'l Adha prayers
Muslims gathered in several areas in Metro Manila early Sunday morning for Eid'l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice prayers.
Super Radyo dzBB reported that among the locations where Muslims gathered for prayers was Rizal Park in Manila.
Before the payers, the imam asked the attendees to ask for forgiveness from their neighbors and loved ones.
The imam also conveyed the importance of sacrifice and love for Allah.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said that they deployed police officers to ensure that Eid'l Adha prayers went smoothly and safely.
According to MDP Director Police Brigadier General Thomas Ibay, they had personnel deployed at Rizal Park and around the Masjid Al-Daha or Manila Golden Mosque in Quiapo.
Meanwhile, Eid'l Adha prayers were also held at the Blue Mosque in Barangay Maharlika Village, Taguig City.
After the prayers, the meat of animals such as goats, sheep, and cattle was shared among families, friends, and the needy.
Eid al-Adha is a significant Islamic holiday commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's unwavering devotion to Allah.
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. had declared June 17, Monday, a regular holiday for the observance of Eid'l Adha.
In an advisory, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said employees who would work on Monday would be entitled to double pay. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
