MMDA: Number coding lifted on June 12, Independence Day

The number coding traffic scheme will be suspended on Wednesday, June 12, as the country celebrates its 126th Independence Day.

In a Facebook advisory, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority urged the public to participate in different activities that will be held at the Quirino Grandstand and Rizal Park in Manila starting June 10 to June 12.

Motorists have been advised to plan ahead their travels.

Earlier, MMDA also announced road closures for the Independence Day celebration.

Number coding is automatically lifted in the entire Metro Manila during regular holidays.

Under the number coding scheme, vehicles are barred from major thoroughfares of Metro Manila from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and  5 p.m. to 8 p.m., depending on the last digit of their license plates.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/AOL, GMA Integrated News
