Jeepney driver who 'body-shamed' passenger issued show cause order by LTFRB
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued Tuesday a show cause order against the jeepney driver who allegedly body-shamed a passenger.
According to a copy of the document posted on X (formerly Twitter) by GMA Integrated News reporter Nico Waje, the driver and his operator were directed to appear at a hearing on June 14, Friday.
The LTFRB issued the show cause order with regard to "employing a discourteous driver, failure to convey passenger and violation of safe spaces in public transportation."
In issuing the order, the LTFRB said it acted on the complaint lodged and viral video posted by the passenger.
The 29-year-old passenger had claimed that the jeepney driver demanded that she disembark for being overweight, even blaming her weight as the cause of his jeepney's flat tires.
"Failure on your part to appear before this Board on the date mentioned above shall be considered as a waiver on your part to be heard and this case shall be decided on the basis of the evidence presented and the records of the Board," the order read. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
