MMDA, LTO sign deal to accredit motorcycle academy

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Thursday inked an agreement for the accreditation of its Motorcycle Riding Academy (MRA).
In a statement, the MMDA said that with the memorandum of agreement with LTO, the motorcycle riding academy will be accredited as a Practical Driving Examination Center (PDEC).
“Sa nasabing kasunduan, kinakailangang magawa sa MMDA MRA ang mga sumusunod na motorcycle maneuvers: serpentine maneuver, left turn and stop in the box, cone weave and U-turn, at acceleration and sudden braking,” MMDA said.
(Under the deal, the MMDA MRA must be able to perform the following motorcycle maneuvers: serpentine maneuver, left turn and stop in the box, cone weave and U-turn, and acceleration and sudden braking.)
“Magkakaroon din ng interconnection ang MMDA MRA sa Land Transportation Management System. Magtatalaga naman ang LTO ng driver’s skills rater para magsagawa ng practical driving examination,” added the MMDA.
(The MMDA MRA will also have an interconnection with the Land Transportation Management System. The LTO will assign a driver's skills rater to conduct a practical driving examination.)
The training in MRA will also remain free.
The MMDA MRA, located at Julia Vargas Avenue corner Meralco Avenue in Pasig City, pushes for road safety by providing theoretical and practical training to motorcycle riders. --VAL, GMA Integrated News
