Number coding suspended on Labor Day, May 1, 2024 —MMDA
The expanded number coding scheme will be suspended on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Tuesday.
May 1, Labor Day, is a regular holiday in the country.
“Suspendido ang pagpapatupad ng expanded number coding scheme sa Miyerkules, Mayo 1, Araw ng Paggawa o Labor Day (The implementation of expanded number coding scheme is suspended on Wednesday, May 1, Labor Day),” MMDA said in an advisory.
It also advised motorists to plan their trips ahead, obey traffic rules and regulations, and always observe road courtesy.
The scheme, formally known as the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), bars vehicles on EDSA and other thoroughfares in the National Capital Region one day a week from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., depending on the last number of their license plate.
Vehicles with license plates ending in 1 and 2 must obey the prohibition on Monday; vehicles with license plates ending in 3 and 4 on Tuesday; 5 and 6 on Wednesday; 7 and 8 on Thursday; and 9 and 0 on Friday.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
