Man stabs friend, claims victim bullied him

A man in Navotas was stabbed dead by his childhood friend who claimed that the victim had bullied him.

According to a "24 Oras" report by James Agustin on Tuesday, video footage shows 43-year-old Alfredo Libao Jr. being stabbed by another man in Barangay Tangos South. Libao could be seen on the ground begging to be spared, as the other man continued stabbing him.

Libao was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. He had been stabbed multiple times, including in the neck.

The attacker was arrested by the police in a follow-up operation. The knife he used was also recovered.

“Umabot po sa pananaksak kasi napuno na rin itong ating yung suspek dahil binubully daw nga siya nitong biktima,” said Police Colonel Mario Cortes, Navotas Chief of Police.

(It reached this point because according to the suspect the victim had been bullying him.)

Libao's partner denied this. She said in December of last year, the two had a misunderstanding and that she had urged her husband to stay away from the other man.

The suspect has been charged with murder. It was discovered that he was already imprisoned in 2015 for a stabbing incident.

“Humihingi lang ako pasensiya sa kanila sana patawarin nila ako sa kasalanang nagawa ko,” he said.

(I hope they'll forgive me for the sin I've committed.)

The victim's wife, however, said she could not accept the apology as her husband had asked his assailant to stop but was ignored. — Sherylin Untalan/BM, GMA Integrated News
