Man allegedly stabs dead own mother who refused to give him money

A man in Barangay Masambong, Quezon City was apprehended for allegedly stabbing his mother to death due to financial woes.

Based on the initial investigation, the 39-year-old suspect reportedly asked his mother for money but she refused. He later allegedly attacked the victim and stabbed her several times.

“Nanghingi yung anak sa nanay niya ng certain amount of money pero di napagbigyan. So nung patulog na sila nung araw na 'yun nakarinig ‘yung isa pa sa mga anak ng biktima na humihingi ng tulong yung nanay,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Jewel Nicanor, Chief of Police of Masambong Police Station said. 

“Nung puntahan sa kwarto nila nakita niya yung nanay niya duguan at may hawak na patalim yung kapatid niya,” he said.

(The suspect was asking for a certain amount of money but his mom refused. His brother heard her asking for help. When he went to her room, he saw his mother bleeding and the suspect holding a knife.)

The victim was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to stab wounds on her chest.

“May statement pa yung suspek na this is not the first time na nag attempt siya na gawin niya sa nanay niya yon,” Nicanor added.

(The suspect issued a statement that this is not the first time he attempted to attack his mother.)

According to one of the suspect's siblings, he was allegedly facing financial woes due to gambling problems and that this may be the motive for the crime.

Nicanor said they had previously arrested the suspect for illegal gambling in 2017.

GMA Integrated News sought the suspect’s comment but he declined to issue a statement.

He is now under the custody of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit and is currently facing parricide charges. — Sundy Locus/BAP, GMA Integrated News
