Woman, 73, attacked and robbed by grandchildren

A 73-year old grandmother was attacked and robbed by her own grandchildren inside her house in Manila, John Consulta reported on 24 Oras

Based on CCTV footage taken last December 3, 2023, a female suspect broke into the victim's house while she lay asleep. The suspect was carrying a piece of cloth, which she used to gag the victim’s mouth and nose.

The victim tried to resist and screamed for help as she was wrestled out of her bed.

The suspect tried to overpower the woman by punching her several times before hitting her head on the floor six times. The suspect later took the woman's pouch containing money, jewelry and a cell phone.

Investigation revealed the assailant as the victim's 22-year-old granddaughter. She was arrested in Aurora province after the court issued an arrest warrant based on the criminal complaint she is facing.

Meanwhile, her alleged accomplice, her brother, was nabbed in Cavite. Some of the items they stole have been recovered.

“Pananagutan nila kung ano yung ginawa nila. Ang sinampang complaint natin dito is robbery with violence,” said Police Brigadier General Thomas Ibay, District Director, Manila Police District.
