Jealous boyfriend allegedly hires hitman to kill girlfriend's ex-partner

A 20-year-old man died in Rosario, Pasig after he was fatally shot by a hitman allegedly hired by his ex-girlfriend’s current partner.

According to Emil Sumangil’s “24 Oras” report Monday, victim Christian Azul was on his way home on January 16 at around 10 p.m. when he was shot by a gunman along East Bank Road in Barangay Rosario.

Azul succumbed to two gunshot wounds while the motorcycle-riding assailant and his accomplice fled the scene.

“Inabangan po sila sa labas ng bahay. Habang may kausap po itong biktima,” said Pasig Police Chief Police Colonel Celerino Sacro.

(They waited for him outside his house. He was shot while he was talking to someone.)

Alias “Deliah” — the victim’s ex-girlfriend — submitted a written affidavit to the police in which she alleged that her current live-in partner was the mastermind behind the crime.

Deliah said her boyfriend became jealous after he found out she was still meeting the victim and hired the alleged gunman.

However, she clarified that she met Azul on the night of the incident for closure.

“Nung nalaman ng mastermind na nagkikita pa sila, doon nabuo ang plano na babarilin nila 'yung biktima,” said Sacro.

(When the mastermind found out they were still meeting, he concocted the plan to shoot the victims.)

“’Yung kausap ng biktima natin ay nagbigay ng positibong impormasyon. 'Yung suspek natin at gunman saka 'yung mastermind, umuwi sa Taytay, Rizal. Wala tayong sinayang na oras, binuo natin 'yung follow-up teams, SWAT, TMRU, at 'yung Substation 7,” he said.

(The person the victim was talking to before he was shot gave us positive information. The suspect and the mastermind were from Taytay, Rizal. We did not waste time and formed teams to arrest them.)

Identified as alias “Birador”, the Pasig Police apprehended the alleged gunman along Highway 2000 in Taytay, Rizal.

GMA Integrated News had sought comment from the gunman, but he did not respond.
