Manila LGU announces road closure for Chinese New Year celebration

The Manila City government, on Thursday, announced that some roads will be closed to give way to the fireworks display for celebration in the district of Binondo of the Chinese New Year.

According to a Facebook post, the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge will be closed on Friday, February 9, from 12 midnight onwards.

The Jones Bridge southbound lane going towards the Manila City Hall will also be closed from 7 p.m. onwards and the northbound portion bound towards Binondo will close starting 10 p.m. to give way to audiences planning to watch the event.

The 12-minute fireworks program will begin at 10 p.m. at Jones Bridge.

Binondo, the Philippines’ oldest Chinatown, was established in 1954 and will be celebrating 430 years in 2024. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/BAP, GMA Integrated News
