Water pipeline leak in Caloocan reported by residents, gets fixed

Residents in Purok 6, Barangay 185 Malaria, Caloocan sought the assistance of GMA Network's Kapuso Action Man over a broken water pipeline that was causing spillage on streets.

According to a "24 Oras" report by Emil Sumangil, the residents said that the leaking water pipe has been releasing water for the last two months.

“Nanghihinayang ako doon sa sobrang tubig na tumatapon. Pagka-gabi, napakalakas ng pressure hanggang sa loob namin pumapasok,” said resident Corazion Siota.

(There was so much water wastage. At night, the pressure is so strong that the water reaches inside our house.)

The water leaking from the pipeline also endangers pedestrians and motorists passing by the area.

“Laging basa, atsaka sa mga bata, ito lang ang nagiging playground nila [kaya] nadudulas,” said Siota.

(The area is always wet. Some kids make this their playground, and we were afraid they might slip.)

Maynilad apologized to the residents and explained that the leaking pipe was part of the 11-kilometer old pipes covering four barangays in Caloocan.

It said it has allotted more than P72 million to fix the pipes under the partial pipe replacement project.

As of Wednesday, the leaking pipe has been repaired. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
