Accountant nabbed for allegedly stealing P9M from company
An accountant who allegedly stole around P9 million from his former employer was apprehended by authorities in Carmen, Bohol.
Suspect Josue Iroy was placed on the Quezon City Police District's (QCPD) wanted list in 2020 after he was charged with qualified theft by the company for allegedly stealing their money.
The QCPD located Iroy with the help of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in Bohol.
“Almost ten years siya nagtrabaho sa kumpanya. Ngayon, nung nalaman niya na yung sistema, yung mga transaksyon, yung perang dapat sa kumpanya ay di pala nahuhulog sa bangko,” said QCPD Station 11 Commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Jake Manguerra in a report by Chino Gaston on ‘’24 Oras’’ on Thursday.
(He worked in the company for almost 10 years. The money intended for the company was not being deposited with the bank when he became familiar with the systems and transactions.)
GMA Integrated News sought the suspect’s comment, but he declined.
“No comment na ko, nagsalita na ako kanina,” he said.
(No comment. I already issued a statement earlier.)
According to the PNP, the suspect claimed to have returned the money to his former employer by giving up his land and other properties. — Sundy Locus/VBL, GMA Integrated News
