Man in 'road rage' videos: I'm not sorry, not afraid of anyone

A motorist allegedly involved in multiple road altercations appeared Wednesday before the Land Transportation Office (LTO) but refused to issue an apology over the incidents that have gone viral on social media.

According to Mark Salazar's report on 24 Oras, the man appeared before the LTO-National Capital Region (NCR) Office after he was issued a show-cause order asking him to explain why he should not be sanctioned for violating traffic regulations.

Aside from refusing to apologize, the man failed to submit a notarized affidavit as ordered by the LTO.

"Kahit anong gawin nyo diyan, kahit patayin niyo pa ako sa kalsada, I will still rise up again. I will always rise again," he said.

(Whatever you do, even if you kill me on the street, I will still rise up again. I will always rise again.)

"I don't expect anything because walang mangyayari (I don't expect anything because nothing will happen). I will defend myself. I will get lawyers for that. What else do you want? I'm not afraid of any of you. Remember that," he added.

The 24 Oras report said the LTO has suspended his driver's license and car registration. He was also given until Jan. 24 to submit his notarized affidavit.

"Paulit-ulit kong sinasabi 'yung character, 'yung attitude, discipline sa kalsada makikita lalo na't na-post sa social media ang road rage. Huwag mainit ang ulo," said LTO-NCR Assistant Regional Director Hanzley Lim.

(I've said this over and over: a person's character, attitude, and discipline can be seen on the road. Road rage incidents are posted on social media. We should not lose our temper.)

"Dahil sa due process natin, hindi natin madesisyunan hangga't wala pa ang affidavit niya. Pero sinabihan natin siya kanina, kung wala siyang isa-submit, based sa hawak nating evidence, the videos itself, doon namin ico-conclude 'yung resolution," Lim said.

(We cannot decide on his case because he has yet to submit his affidavit. That's part of due process. However, we told him that if he refuses to make a submission, we will conclude the preparation of the resolution based on the videos.)

A separate 24 Oras report on Monday said the man was caught on video in three incidents angrily confronting other motorists.

The first video shows a traffic altercation in Quezon City taken during the first week of January. A car is seen blocking the path of another vehicle in the middle of the road. A man emerges from the first car and angrily shouts at the driver taking the video, demanding that he alight his vehicle. The other driver refuses, and the other man leaves.

Another video appeared last weekend of what appeared to be the same car and the same man accosting another driver. Footage shows that the man was carrying retractable baton in a threatening manner, while shouting at the other driver in the middle of the road.

A third video shows what appears to be the same man, also armed with a baton, engaged in another traffic spat, this time with the driver of a van. It also shows the same car with a similar license plate as the two previous videos. — Sundy Locus/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
