Fire hits residential area in Pandacan, Manila; 1 hurt


A teenager was injured when a fire hit a residential area in Dapo Street, West Zamora, Pandacan, Manila Thursday morning, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The victim was identified as Prince Adrian Cayago, a 19-year-old male, who suffered cuts at the top of his head. Emergency responders transported Cayago to the Ospital ng Maynila for medical treatment.

In its report, the BFP said the fire broke out at 5:47 a.m. and reached the fourth alarm at 6:57 a.m. The damaged houses were made of light materials.

Super Radyo dzBB reported that some 160 houses with an estimated 360 individuals from Barangays 850 and 851 were affected by the blaze.

Firemen had a hard time responding to the incident because of the narrow roads in the community, the report said.

Fire out was declared at 8:26 a.m.

As of posting time, the BFP has not released any information on possible casualties in the fire incident. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
