Light traffic in expressways after holiday season - TRB

Following the end of the 2023 yuletide season, the Toll Regulatory Board reported lighter than expected vehicular traffic along the North and South Luzon Expressways.

According to a 24 Oras report by Mark Salazar, heavy traffic only occurred along the Southwoods southbound portion of SLEX on Monday due to a car accident.

“Kahapon, there was a time na nagkaroon ng pagdagsa after lunch. Nagsimula ng 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. and lasting for some time, pero hindi naman katagalan. Pabugso-bugso at before 9 p.m. napansin namin lumuwag na,” said TRB spokesperson Julius Corpuz.

“Marami po siguro ang medyo nagsi-balik na unti-unti during the holidays, kasi mahaba ang holidays natin and also it is possible na hindi karamihan ang nagsi-labasan ng Metro Manila this time,” he added.

The TRB said it is looking at its daily traffic report to understand the motorist behavior during the holidays that showed heavier traffic on December 15 to 16 in the expressways.

Meanwhile, progress in bus stations was slow moving as buses were reportedly hampered by heavy traffic along the C-5 road. —RF, GMA Integrated News
