'Bayawak Gang' causing fear among Las Piñas barangay residents

Residents of Barangay Talon 4 in Las Piñas City expressed concern over the threat of a supposed armed group called Bayawak Gang operating in their area.

According to Bam Alegre's report on Unang Balita on Thursday, the threat allegedly made by the group has been circulating on social media saying that it will sow violence against a rival gang.

A certain “Bossbay” is allegedly leading the Bayawak Gang.

A social media post of the group shows men with covered faces brandishing firearms.

“Minsan nga po nagpapaputok pa ng baril diyan. Talagang akto na nakita namin, mga tao talaga diyan. Nagpapaputok ng baril talaga. Hindi kuwento ano lang, parang totoo na,” resident Jun Calisi said.

(Sometimes, they were firing guns there. We really saw it. They were firing guns. It is not just a made up story, it seems real.)

In a statement, the Las Piñas Police strongly condemned the online assassination threats allegedly posted by the Bayawak Gang.

The police launched an investigation and deployed personnel to identify the members of the group, file complaints, and conduct arrests.

“Huwag pong mag-alala ang mga taga-Talon 4 ng Las Piñas (Residents of Talon 4 in Las Piñas do not have to worry),” Las Piñas Police chief Police Colonel Jaime Santos said.

“We have already deployed our personnel. We are working on it. And we are focused not only on the area but the immediate arrest of Bossbay and his cohorts,” he added.

Santos warned the Bayawak Gang of consequences if it commits violence in the area.
