NBI arrests lawyer, 3 others for alleged investment scam
A lawyer and three others were arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for an alleged investment scam that victimized government employees and police personnel, according to the report of Darlene Cay on "State of the Nation."
The suspects, who were arrested at a 5-star hotel in Parañaque City, promised their victims a monthly income of up to P150,000.
One complainant received, only once, P150,000.
"Nagbayad siya ng P150,000 cash bilang interes, unang interes sa buwan. But then the rest... lahat yun tumalbog. And then yung may check na P3 million, tumalbog din," said Atty. Jeremy Lotoc, NBI Cybercrime Division chief.
There are reportedly other victims, including a mayor and members of the Philippine National Police. The suspects will face several charges. GMA Integrated News asked for a statement from the suspects but they declined. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
