QC cop injured after motorist allegedly drags him 500 meters

A police officer got dragged on the road as he was trying to catch an alleged drag racer in Quezon City.

According to James Agustin's report on 24 Oras on Friday, the officer sustained wounds in different parts of his body.

Pasong Putik Police Station Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Reynaldo Vitto said the cop was dealing with the motorist courteously.

"Sa driver side, kinukuha 'yung lisensiya. Itinaas 'yung bintana nung sasakyan. Naipit iyong kaniyang kamay. Tapos hinarurot ng suspek hanggang sa makaladkad na 'yung pulis natin," said Vitto.

The incident took place along Commonwealth Avenue early Thursday morning, November 23.

The officer got dragged for almost 500 meters. The 23-year-old suspect, a college student, was in police custody after his father surrendered him to authorities.

The authorities were able to track his car to San Mateo, Rizal.

According to the suspect, he did not know it was the police who stopped him. He also denied involvement in illegal drag racing.

The suspect is facing multiple complaints, including alarm and scandal, frustrated homicide, and resistance and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority. — Sherylin Untalan/DVM GMA Integrated News
