No class suspension in QC, students may go online says gov't

The Quezon City government on Sunday clarified that there will be no class suspensions in the city’s schools due to the scheduled transport strike of the Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (PISTON).

However, the announcement posted on Sunday in the Facebook page handled by the QC Public Affairs and Information Services Department, said students who are unable to attend face-to-face classes are excused and will instead attend asynchronous classes.

The local government said it will also provide free rides to school personnel affected by the transport strike.

A number of local governments and academic institutions have already announced suspension of face-to-face classes, due to the transport strike and the magnitude 6.8 earthquake that hit Davao Occidental.

This comes as some 100,000 members of PISTON are expected to join the scheduled transport strike from November 20 to November 23, 2023, to protest the government’s public utility vehicle modernization program (PUVMP).—RF, GMA Integrated News
