Comelec files case vs alleged vote-buying facilitator
The Navotas City Commission on Elections on Saturday filed charges against a suspect who was allegedly facilitating vote-buying in Barangay Longos, Malabon City on Thursday.
According to a statement released by the Department of Justice, the suspect was caught distributing white envelopes containing P300 to attendees of an alleged watchers’ meeting on Wednesday.
Also discovered in the scene were photocopies of IDs from residents of Barangay Longos, Malabon City, documents containing voters' information, and a poster of a barangay captain candidate.
Statements from 198 witnesses corroborated the Navotas Comelec’s complaint.
The suspect chose not to execute a waiver and has expressed intent to submit the complaint for immediate resolution, to which the Navotas City Prosecutor's Office issued a resolution finding probable cause to charge for violation of vote-buying and vote-selling in the Omnibus Election Code. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
