7 a.m. - 7 p.m. car ban? Not true, says MMDA

The number coding scheme will remain from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Metro Manila, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Tuesday.

The clarification comes amid reported information circulating online that the Metro Manila Council will implement a 7a.m. to 7 p.m. number coding scheme in several areas.

"Same pa din po ang MMDA number coding from 7 AM to 10 AM and 5 PM to 8 PM, Mondays to Fridays, except weekends and holidays," MMDA clarified on X (formerly Twitter.)

(The same MMDA number coding will be implemented from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.)

Window hours will still be from 10:01 a.m. to 4:59 p.m.

In Makati City, the number coding scheme will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with no window hours.

"Wala pa po tayong advise. Dating coding po muna ang ating susundin. Salamat po," MMDA added.

(We don't have any advice yet. We will follow the former coding first. Thank you.)

Meanwhile, MMDA has suspended the expanded number coding scheme on the following special non-working holidays:

  • October 30, 2023: Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections
  • November 1, 2023: All Saints Day
  • November 2, 2023: All Souls Day
