Policeman caught on CCTV shouting, cocking gun in Las Piñas
A policeman was relieved from his post after he was caught on CCTV shouting and pulling the trigger of his gun.
According to Darlene Cay's report on "State of the Nation," Police Corporal Brannard Castañeda's neighbors have said that he would fire his gun whenever he was drunk.
Apparently out of bullets, he was seen cocking his gun and pulling the trigger. He was later seen hitting something that wasn't seen in the CCTV footage.
Afterward, he moved to a nearby location where he started threatening Diomedes Leyte.
“Bigla niya ko tinutukan ng baril dito po sa ulo, tapos sabi niya ‘Ikaw ba yun?’ Sabi ko ‘Ay di po ako, sir. Kararating ko lang po,’” Diomedes said.
(He suddenly pointed a gun at my head and said ‘Was that you?’ I said ‘No, it’s not me, sir. I just got here,’)
Diomedes defended himself from the attack, which caused an altercation between the two of them.
“Paghawak ko ng baril niya, natumba kami dun,” he said.
(We fell to the ground when I got hold of his gun.)
He added that he did not know the suspect personally.
“As early as 2:30 in the morning, we received a phone call from a concerned citizen. An hour later, nagkaroon ng insidente po diyan sa Rebecca Compound,” said Las Piñas City Police Chief Jaime Santos.
