NBI issues subpoena to ex-LTFRB aide Tumbado
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued a subpoena to Jeff Tumbado, the former executive assistant of suspended Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRb) chairman Teofilo Guadiz III, who recently recanted his allegations of corruption in the agency.
This was confirmed by NBI's information office Nick Suarez to GMA Integrated News.
Meanwhile, in a media briefing earlier, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said the DOJ will coordinate with the NBI regarding the issue.
“Merong anti-graft desk sa NBI. Usually ‘yan moto propio. Pinupuntuhan yan ng agents ng NBI. But we will remind them,” Remulla said in a media briefing.

“I think Usec. Dulay will be the one to talk to the NBI to go after this LTFRB case and to interview the assistant of the chairman of the LTFRB,” he added.
Tumbado previously claimed that Guadiz delivered corruption money to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista.
He also claimed that Guadiz told him two congressmen were also in on the collection of P5 million from transactions such as the opening of new routes or franchises.
Tumbado, however, recanted his allegations on Wednesday, saying his remarks were “borne out of impulse, irrational thinking, misjudgment, and poor decision-making.”
He said the sworn statement was also “a form of public apology” to Guadiz Bautista, the Department of Transportation, and the Office of the President.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
