Suspect in Molotov cocktail blast at NAIA parking area to be charged
The man suspected of throwing a Molotov cocktail into the open parking area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on September 23 is now facing charges in Pasay City.
In a statement, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said the suspect voluntarily surrendered last September 28 following an intelligence and surveillance operation.
“A concerned informant came forward to the MIAA-TPS providing crucial information about the incident and identifying a certain Renieldo Dela Peña Perez, also known as 'Bolayog,' as the perpetrator,” the statement read.
Perez admitted that he assembled, ignited, and threw the Molotov cocktail towards the direction of the parking lot.
He was turned over to the Pasay City Police for the filing of attempted arson and alarm and scandal charges.
Last October 6, he underwent inquest proceedings and is currently in Pasay City jail.
The reported Molotov cocktail went off in the morning of September 23, causing damage to three vehicles parked nearby.
