Social media influencer nabbed in investment scam raid

Authorities arrested a social media influencer allegedly connected to a company running "investment scams."

According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras," Eduardo Mallare Jr. was arrested in his condominium unit in Pasay City through an arrest warrant for syndicated estafa on Tuesday.

"Nakipag coordinate po sa security manager and officers, upon verification, na identify natin kung saan ang eksaktong unit," said Deputy Force Commander Police Major Edgar Escreza, Mobile Force Battalion of the Eastern Police District.

Mallare is a social media influencer known as "Queen Dodj."

“Batay sa interview at panayam sa kanya, isa rin siyang social media influencer, more or less 400k ang followers sa kaniyang account,” said Escreza.

GMA Integrated News has sought Mallare's comment, who is now jailed at the Marikina Police Station.

On August 5, the National Bureau of Investigation - Anti Fraud Division raided the company Massdrop Marketing after receiving complaints regarding the alleged investment scam.

At least ten officers and staff of the company were arrested.

However, the police have yet to determine Mallare's role in the company.

“Nag o-offer po sila ng 1k to 10million investment, kapalit ng mas malaking kita,” said Escreza.

“Kayo po’y malugod namin inaanyayahan na mag-file ng kaso laban sa mga suspek. ‘Yung mga pinag hirapan natin na pera, huwag natin ipagkatiwala sa mga promising na pangako,” Escreza added.

GMA Integrated News team is also trying to get the company's statement, which said earlier that it is developing a safer payout system for its members.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
