Malabon's 2 top cops relieved over shooting incident
The chief of Malabon City Police and the head of the city's Station Drug Enforcement Unit were relieved following a shooting incident involving a police personnel that killed two and wounded one.
According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras," Police Lieutenant Colonel Jay Baybayan, the city's police chief, and Police Lieutenant Jonas Gato of the anti-illegal drugs unit, have been removed from their post to ensure an impartial investigation.
“Ayaw natin na makitaan o maging issue na baka pagtatakpan ito dahil pulis ang involved,” said Police Brigadier General Rizalito Gapas, Northern Police District Director.
GMA Integrated News is trying to get the side of the police officials.
The incident stemmed from the shooting incident involving Patrolman Zenjo Del Rosario, who went inside a house in Barangay Acacia and shot three persons.
Del Rosario had said he was only doing his job.
A paraffin test and bullet slugs from the crime scene confirmed that Del Rosario fired his gun.
“Ang tama ng mga biktima ay headshot. Murder talaga itong ganitong klase ng krimen. May intent talaga to kill. As to ano yung dahilan o pinagawayan nila o ‘yung ano dahilan nito ay sa ngayon hindi pa ‘yan ni-re reveal satin officially ng suspek,” Gapas said.
Authorities are also investigating the toy gun found at the crime scene and the fake '"shabu" both belonging to one of the victims.
Police said there's a possibility of something illegal was happening inside the house.
“Kasi may pekeng drugs at pekeng baril, drug related, bukod sa meron record na rin itong mga biktima na na-involve na rin sa droga sa previous years,” Gapas said.
