Valenzuela houses collapse amid continuous rain
A number of houses in Barangay Mapulang Lupa in Valenzuela collapsed on Sunday after days of continuous rains brought about by the recent typhoons softened the soil in the area, leaving at least one injured.
In Dano Tingcungco's “24 Oras Weekend” report, the Valenzuela local government unit said the collapse occurred past 9 a.m.
A nearby wall just behind a residential area also toppled over.
The local government opened two evacuation sites to cater to the 27 families who were affected by the incident.
The Bureau of Fire Protection-National Capital Region said at least one person was injured.
The country continues to experience rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon and Typhoon Hanna (international name: Haikui), which is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility late Sunday or early Monday morning. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMA Integrated News
