DSWD to continue delivering services amid NCR work suspension
Amid the Office of the President's suspension of work in NCR government offices on Friday - September 1, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continued with its operations.
In a memorandum, the DSWD announced that they would continue delivering necessary aid for individuals in the NCR who were affected by the recent typhoons and enhanced Southwest Monsoon.
“Agencies whose functions include the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary service, of which DSWD is one of those agencies,” the memorandum read.
In a statement on Friday, the DSWD announced the release of foodpacks in several areas in NCR affected by flooding and fire.
Their report said 2,075 foodpacks were distributed in affected areas of Manila’s 1st, 4th, and 5th districts; while fire-affected areas in Las Piñas, Quezon City, and Manila received food packs, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits in their temporary shelters. — Jiselle Casucian
