SC declares half-day work on Aug. 31, 2023 due to bad weather

The Supreme Court on Thursday announced that it will suspend work early due to inclement weather.

According to the court, work is suspended starting 12 noon based on the instructions of Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.

However, the court said docket receiving and cashier sections will continue their operations.

Several streets in Metro Manila were flooded as of Thursday morning due to heavy rains in the previous hours brought by the southwest monsoon or Habagat.

According to state weather bureau PAGASA, Habagat was enhanced by Typhoon Saola (formerly Goring), which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), and Severe Tropical Storm Hanna.

As of 4 a.m., the center of Hanna was estimated at 1,225 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 115 km/h, and central pressure of 990 hPa, PAGASA said. —Joahna Lei Casilao/KBK, GMA Integrated News
