Mandaluyong police chief relieved from post after testing positive in drug test
The chief of police of Mandaluyong City has been relieved from his post after testing positive for illegal drugs, the Eastern Police District (EPD) said Wednesday.
EPD Director Police Brigadier General Wilson Asueta said Colonel Cesar Gerente yielded positive results in a surprise drug test recently conducted by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Luisito Santos reported on dzBB’s Super Radyo.
Gerente was placed under the regional personnel holding and accounting section of the NCRPO regional personnel records management division pending his confirmatory test.
He also surrendered his service firearms and was instructed to issue an explanation.
Meanwhile, Colonel Mary Grace Madayag was appointed acting chief of police of Mandaluyong City, replacing Gerente.
Asueta said the police district does not condone the use of illicit drugs within any of their ranks.
