Ex-cop says he and cyclist settled differences; lawyer says deal forced
Wilfredo Gonzales, the motorist who pulled out a gun on a cyclist in Quezon City in early August, said that he and the cyclist had settled amicably following the altercation that has since gone viral.
According to Jun Veneracion's report on "State of the Nation," Gonzales said he and the cyclist went to a police station and agreed to forgive each other and forget what happened.
Bike enthusiast and lawyer Raymond Fortun, however, said that the cyclist told him that Gonzales forced him to go to the nearest police precinct and was told to pay P500 for the damage to his car.
The PNP said Gonzales was a former policeman. He retired in 2016 but in 2017 had a dismissal order, which affected his benefirs.
The PNP has cancelled Gonzales gun license, firearm registration, and permit to carry.
The three guns under his name have also been confiscated. —NB, GMA Integrated News
