LRT1 temporarily halts ops after man jumps onto tracks
The operations of the Light Rail Transit-Line 1 (LRT1) was briefly halted after a man jumped onto the railway’s tracks early morning on Saturday.
In an advisory, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said that provisional service was implemented from Baclaran station to Central station at 6:12 a.m.
Full operations of the LRT1 resumed at 6:44 a.m., it said.
The DOTr said “a 26-year old male passenger was reported to have jumped onto the southbound tracks of the LRT1 Blumentritt Station as a train was approaching.”
Fortunately, the DOTr said the train operator was able to immediately apply the emergency brake when the passenger jumped on the tracks.
“First responders rescued the passenger from under the train at around 6:33 am. He was found conscious, with head abrasions and severed left foot,” the Transportation Department said.
“The passenger was rushed to a hospital, and is currently being treated. As of 9:32 a.m., the passenger is in stable condition and is now having an X-ray,” the DOTr said. —Ted Cordero/KG, GMA Integrated News
