AFTER POBLACION BRAWL

More complaints filed vs. Awra Briguela

Three more complaints have been filed against actress Awra Briguela before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office, months after she got embroiled in a controversial brawl in a Poblacion bar.

“We are filing, in fact we already filed, three additional cases against Awra Briguela,” Atty. Nick Nangit, the lawyer of complainant Mark Christian Ravana, said in an ambush interview.

Nangit said they filed a complaint violation of Article 283 (Light threats) under the Revised Penal Code, violation of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) under the RPC, and Violation of Section 11(c) in relation to Section 11(a) of the Safe Space Act.

“You know the CCTV, kumakalat ‘yan diba, so hinahawakhawak siya, so there’s a violation of the private space,” Nangit said.

(In the CCTV footage going around, it could be seen that he was being touched, so there’s a violation of private space.)

“And then the second, pinasarado niya ‘yung pintuan ng third floor, hindi pwedeng bumababa because hindi siya nag huhubad. So, that is already life threats. And then the third, nung hinila siya pabalik, nahulog sila pareho, grave coercion,” he added.

(And then the second, he asked the door of the third floor to be closed so they could not go down until he had taken off his clothes. So, that is already life threats. And then the third, when he was pulled back and they fell, that is grave coercion.)

The lawyer added that he believes they have a “very strong case.”

For his part, Ravana denied allegations on social media that he and Awra settled the case.

“Hindi po totoo yun na nag-kaayos kami. Wala pong lumapit sa akin,” Ravana said.

(It is not true that we have settled. There is no one approaching me.)

Ravana, however, said he was open to a possible settlement.

“Willing naman po kami pero sa ngayon na parang kami pa po yung— kami na nga po yung biktima, kami pa po yung talagang na dedehado dito sa pangyayaring ito,” he said.

(I’m willing, but right now it seems like we’re the ones who are— we’re the victims, but it’s like we’re the ones who are at a disadvantage in this case.)

“Pero tignan na lang po natin (but we’ll see),” he added.

Awra is also facing charges of slight physical injuries and simple disobedience to a person in authority.

In June, CCTV footage of a fight between Awra and the complainants outside the bar circulated on social media.

She was arrested but was released after posting bail.

One of the bar’s bouncers later claimed that no sexual harassment took place amid allegations on social media that the actress only tried to defend her friend who was inappropriately touched by a man.

Ravana said that Awra wanted him to take off his pants and was not satisfied when he only took his top off.

“Ginawa ko yun kasi dahil nga pinag huhubad niya ko para nga makalabas ako. Tsaka inanuhan na rin ako ng kaibigan ko na sige na, mag hubad ka na pare para makalabas na tayo,” he said.

(I did that because she asked me to take my top off so we could go. My friends also urged me to do it so we could already leave.)

“So nag hubad ako ng pang taas ako. And hindi naman niya nagustuhan kasi ayaw niya lang yung pang taas ko hubarin ko. Gusto pati yung pants ko,” he added.

(So I took off my top. But she was not happy, and she also wanted me to take off my pants as well.) —VAL, GMA Integrated News
