PNP says P6 million worth of contraband seized from dozens of NCR drug raids
More than P6 million worth of contraband in total was seized in 149 police operations across five Metro Manila districts in a span of five days, the Philippine National Police said Tuesday.
In a statement, the PNP said P6,436,311.60 worth of contraband including shabu, marijuana, and ecstasy was confiscated and 252 drug-related arrests logged by the National Capital Region Police Office during their operations from August 7 to 11.
A majority of the contraband was recovered by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), which seized P3,032,380 worth of contraband and made 71 arrests in 37 operations.
The Manila Police District logged P1,038,564 worth of seized items from its 22 operations, which led to 52 arrests.
These were followed by the Southern Police District, with P957,586 worth of contraband seized in over 41 operations with 62 arrests; the Eastern Police District (EPD) with P882,524 worth of contraband seized in 29 operations with 44 arrests; and the Northern Police District (NPD), with P525,257.20 worth of contraband seized in over 20 operations and 23 arrests. — Jiselle Anne C.
