17-year-old killed by cops in case of mistaken identity in Navotas

A 17-year-old boy was killed by six policemen in Navotas City after they allegedly mistook him for a suspect.

According to Nico Waje's report on "Saksi," Jemboy Baltazar was on his way to fish when he was shot and killed by Navotas City policemen in Barangay NBBS Kaunlaran.

A friend who was with Jemboy said they were preparing their boat at noon on August 2 when a policeman ordered them to get off.

They reportedly tried to give themselves up but the cops allegedly kept on shooting.

It was at this point that Jemboy dove into the water where he was further shot at.

The authorities said they were looking for a suspect in a shooting which happened in the barangay earlier in the day.

The Navotas Police admitted there was a lapse in the operation.

A complaint for homicide has been filed against the six policemen in the operation.

They have also been disarmed and detained. —NB, GMA Integrated News
