Quezon City suspends classes on July 24 for SONA 2023
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte suspended classes in all levels for private and public schools in the city on Monday, July 24, in light of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s second State of the Nation Address (SONA).
“Base sa Executive Order No. 23, idineklara ni Mayor Joy Belmonte na walang pasok sa lahat ng antas ng pribado at pampublikong paaralan sa Quezon City sa July 24, 2023 (Lunes) upang bigyang daan ang State of the Nation Address (SONA) ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.,” the QC government said.
(Based on Executive Order No. 23, Mayor Joy Belmonte declared that classes in all levels of private and public schools in Quezon City will be suspended on July 24, 2023 (Monday) to give way for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s State of the Nation Address (SONA).)
"Bagamat bakasyon na ang ibang klase, may Summer Classes naman na maaapektuhan dahil sa pagsasara ng ilang kalsada sa lungsod,” it added.
(Although some schools are currently on break, summer classes may be affected due to the closure of some roads in the city.)
No road closures have been reported as of Tuesday.
However, several transport groups are set to conduct a three-day transport strike from July 24 to July 26, coinciding with the President's SONA.
With this, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Monday that free rides would be offered along certain routes in Metro Manila that will be affected by the three-day transport strike.
Marcos previously said that he would present to the people if there are developments on what he had discussed in his SONA last year. —Sherylin Untalan/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
