5 Manila cops wanted for alleged robbery-extortion

All 50 officers of the Manila Police District's Intelligence Operations Unit have been removed after five members were shown on CCTV robbing a computer shop in Sampaloc, Manila and attempting to extort the owner.

In a "24 Oras" report by Darlene Cay on Thursday, the shop owner said that on Tuesday the five armed men suddenly entered the premises, identified themselves as the police, and accused him of running an illegal gambling den. They then cleaned out his drawer of P44,000 and demanded a weekly protection pay of P4,000.

The five also did not show identification or a search warrant. The MPD confirmed that the five—Staff Sergeant Jan Erwin Isaac, Staff Sergeant Ryann Paculan, Corporal Jonmark Dabucol, Patrolman Jhon Lester Pagar and Patrolman Jeremiah Pascual—were members of the intelligence unit. They are still at large. — Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/BM, GMA Integrated News
