SLEX-Alabang heavy traffic caused by flooding —OCD

Flooding due to the torrential rains resulted in heavy traffic in the SouthLuzon Expressway-Alabang area.

Flooding due to torrential rains resulted in heavy traffic in the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX)-Alabang area, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Thursday.

In its 2 p.m. bulletin, the OCD said Metro Manila is experiencing light to moderate with occasional heavy rains due to the low pressure area (LPA) which leads to flooding in areas prone to this hazard.

“Multiple areas in NCR particularly in the cities along the SLEX Alabang viaduct such as Taguig, Parañaque, Muntinlupa were affected,” the OCD said.

“The flooding receded around 10:00 AM; however, localized flooding at the gutter level persisted in certain areas,” it added.

According to OCD, the flooding is also caused by the temporary closure of the drainage system to facilitate road construction in the area.

A knee-deep flood was reported in Sun Valley, Parañaque, which was not passable to all types of vehicles as of 7:55 a.m., the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said in a Facebook post.

Some roads in Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, and Pasay, as well as EDSA Southbound from Timog Flyover to SLEX were also affected.

Gutter deep flood was also reported Bicutan, Taguig area which also slowed down traffic. Motorists were advised to take alternate routes. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
