Nartatez takes over as acting chief of NCRPO

Police Brigadier General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. assumed his post as the acting director of the National Capital Region Police Office

Former head of the Philippine Nation Police (PNP) Directorate for Intelligence Police Brigadier General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. assumed his new post as the acting director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday.

He replaced Police Major Edgar Alan Okubo, who will now serve as the director of PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR).

In his speech during the ceremony, Nartatez warned rogue and erring cops that the PNP would address their dysfunctions under his leadership.

“Those treading on the wrong side of the straight and narrow path of proper public service: Don't get me wrong. It is not going to be business as usual,” he said.

He also ordered NCRPO officials to establish contacts with barangay captains to ensure true engagement with the community.

“The role of the NCRPO in achieving this objective is to guarantee freedom from crime and freedom from the fear of crime in the country's capital,” said Nartatez.
