UP reports sexual assault at Diliman campus


The University of the Philippines (UP) over the weekend reported that a female student at the Diliman campus had been sexually assaulted, prompting the deployment of additional security personnel in the area.

In a statement released by the UP Diliman (UPD) Chancellor, the UPD Police (UPDP) received a report at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023 that a  student had been sexually assaulted by an unknown individual along Ylanan Street.

“The UPD administration has been working with police authorities for the immediate apprehension of the suspect and closely coordinating with the survivor to provide all necessary assistance,” the statement read.

“Everyone is reminded to stay vigilant and report anything suspicious to the UPDP,” it added, noting that additional roving security personnel and officers would be deployed in different areas after office hours.
