Suspected human trafficking victims, including foreigners, rescued in Las Piñas raid

Law enforcement authorities rescued suspected victims of human trafficking, including foreigners, following a raid at a compound in Las Piñas City, Bam Alegre reported on Unang Balita on Tuesday.

Armed with a search warrant, operatives from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) raided a building within the compound early Tuesday morning.

Authorities were tipped that online casino were being held in the area.

Found inside the building were several foreign nationals who seem to be staying at the facilities.

"It's initially a case of human trafficking," said Police Captain Michelle Sabino of PNP-ACG.

Among the foreigners were Malaysians, Singaporeans, Vietnamese and Chinese nationals, Sabino said.

Based on police estimate, the building was housing more than 1,000 occupants.

According to Sabino, most of the foreigners claimed they were recruited through job postings on social media.
