Manila celebrates 452nd founding anniversary
The City of Manila celebrated its 452nd founding anniversary on Saturday, June 24, 2023.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and Manila Police District Director Police Brigadier General Andrei Dizon led the offering of flowers at the Rajah Sulayman Monument in the district of Malate, according to a report on Super Radyo dzBB.
The ceremony was followed by a civil and military parade in Moriones, Tondo.
As part of the celebration, the Manila local government previously held a city-wide clean-up drive, the Manila Film Festival Float Parade, the Manila June Bride at San Agustin Church, a civil wedding ceremony at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, and tree planting at Arroceros Park and in different parts of the city.
Malacañang previously declared June 24, 2023, a special non-working day in the City of Manila.
The holiday declaration was made through Proclamation No. 261, which was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on June 15, by authority of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. —Jamil Santos/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
