Motorcycle rider dead due to suspected hit and run near EDSA-Shaw underpass
A motorcycle rider was dead on the spot after an alleged hit and run accident near the EDSA-Shaw underpass in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday morning.
The victim was thrown off his motorcycle and his body lay on the ground as of 5 a.m. when a concerned citizen informed authorities, according to a report of Mark Makalalad of Super Radyo on Unang Balita.
The accident occurred right below the MRT Shaw Station.
Personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority at Inter-Agency Council for Traffic immediately responded.
Authorities suspect the victim was hit by a large vehicle which caused his head to be severed from the body.
They are currently reviewing CCTV videos covering the area.
Two lanes of EDSA southbound were temporarily closed to motorists due to the incident.
This caused the tail end of the EDSA southbound traffic to reach Cubao.
Authorities were able to identify the victim based on the driver's license and company ID found in the motorcycle.
It took more than two hours before personnel of the Scene of Crime Operations (SOCO) ng Philippine National Police arrived, according to Makalalad's separate report on Super Radyo dzBB.
