Some Manila Water consumers face 6-hr supply cuts this week
Manila Water Company Inc. customers in select areas of Metro Manila will experience a six-hour water service interruption starting Monday night, as the company undertakes maintenance activities.
In an advisory, Manila Water said customers in parts of Cainta, Rizal; Makati City; Pasig City; Quezon City; and Taguig City will have supply interruptions from Monday, May 8, until Friday, May 12, 2023.
Below is a list of the affected areas, and the schedule of the interruptions:
Manila Water in February said it will spend some P833 million on projects slated for implementation this year, including 23 mainline extension and individualization projects.
It is set to increase rates until it reaches P20.37 per cubic meter in 2027, given the expenses undertaken to improve services. Maynilad Water Services Inc. is also set to hike rates during the time period.
The Razon-led firm has the exclusive right to provide water and used water services to the east zone of the franchise area of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), which services 23 cities and municipalities in Metro Manila and Rizal.
These include Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasig, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig, Marikina, and parts of Quezon City, and Manila. The towns of Angono, Baras, Binangonan, Cainta, Cardona, Jalajala, Morong, Pililia, Rodriguez, Tanay, Taytay, Teresa, San Mateo, and Antipolo in the province of Rizal are also part of the East Zone. —LBG, GMA Integrated News
